The Great Father-Movie Review

The Great Father Started his hunt. One of the most awaited movie of Mammootty has released today. This film is directed by Haneef Adeni has Arya, Anikha, Sneha, Shajon, Malavika, Mia, Balaji Sharma and Shaam alongside with Mammootty. The movie gained huge hype among the audience since the release of it's first look teaser and stylish looks of Mammooka, let's see whether TGF has shown justice to the hype that it created. The movie has not disappointed me. It's one of the best thriller movie of Mammootty produced under the banner of August Cinemas by Prithviraj, Santhosh Sivan, Shaji Nadesan and Arya.

Mammootty is known for signing with new comers to the industry and Haneef Adeni just nailed that opportunity. I think after Anwar Rasheed he's the only director who has used Mammootty as an actor and Mammootty as a big brand of mollywood.  He treated this movie in a highly professional manner and his passion for cinema is evident in his making style. This story is not new to the audience but his making style is the one which made a difference.

As we expected Mammootty just steals the show with his great screen presence, sound delivery and through his mannerisms. We all knew the caliber of Mammootty as an actor so I'm not going deep into that yet , The Great Father is not just about Mammootty even Arya is doing a important role in this movie. Arya's last Malayalam outing was in Double Barrel but as a movie DB couldn't make a big marks in the industry but this time Arya is back with a bang. When we step down from theatre we get a feel that no one else can replace Arya in Andrews Eapen's shoes. It is a role written for him and he did full justice to that. Sneha and Anikha too did a wonderful job in this movie. All other cast members too did a descent work.

Gopi Sundar is one of the best music director in Mollywood now but he fails to impress in this movie but on the other hand Sushin Shyam's background score goes well with the mood of this movie. Roby Vargheese Raj's cinematography is neat but Noufal Abdullah's cuts are not very crisp. Haneef Adeni impresses as a director but his story is not a gripping tale. Its not a packed one. The director in Haneef treated this story well and that's where this movie differs from other movies which tried to convey same theme. His dialogues are good and it has got mass elements too. Stephy Saviour's costume department deserves a mention too.

POSITIVES
1- Mammootty as David Nainan
2- Arya did a wonderful job
3- Baby Anikha and her method acting
4- The way in which Haneef Adeni handled a loose plot
5- Sushin Shyam's bgm
6- Roby Vargheese's Cinematography

NEGATIVES
1- Loose plot
2- Gopi Sundar's music

Megastar started of 2017 in Mega-style. This movie worth your money. This movie will entertain all type of audience, the first half has all those stuffs which need to satisfy every type of audience and second half has all those ingredients for Mammootty fans. The Great Father Is In Hunt.

The Great Father -7.5/10

Oru Mexican Apartha -Movie Review

Oru Mexican Aparatha is a campus entertainer, which is set against the backdrop of Maharajas College in Ernakulam, this movie is the debut directorial venture of Tom Emmatty. In this film, we can see Tovino Thomas as Paul, Roopesh Peethambaran as Roopesh, Neeraj Madhav as Subash, Sunil Sukhada, Gayathri Suresh as Anu, Sudhy Koppa, Kalabhavan Shajon, Jino John, Anjali P Nair, Megha Mathew as Ardra.

Tovino’s character Paul is the supporter of SFY party against his rival Roopesh, who belongs to another party named KSQ. The movie shows the campus war between the students who follow different political ideologies and also narrates the love story of Paul and Anu.

Tom Emmatty as a director has managed to do justice to his work, because of the lack of context he couldn't do much more and that was evident even from the point that he has to change the real story and did a vice versa thing( in real KSU is in the place of SFI and SFI is in KSU's place.) He has to do that for the commercial matter and also because of other prensent political scenario. The movie though lacks a bit of pace in the first half as it focuses on building up to the events and also the characters. The twists in the second half of the film though pick up the pace and it rushes to a satisfying end. Oru Mexican Aparatha is not the typical campus film that audience are used to in Mollywood but, it’s a movie that the youth could identify with, and also takes an introspective look in student politics. Music and the bgm goes breezily with the emotion of this movie. Cinematography is good and the cuts need a special appreciation. Editing has come out of really well.

On screen, Tovino Thomas has the much needed look to be that charismatic leader. He performed neatly in the earlier part where he is aimless in life. The actor should work on his dialogue delivery. Neeraj Madhav leaves a good impression with his mature portrayal of Comrade Subash. Roopesh Peethambaran’s performance was neat, but he also had this issue of clarity of words while speaking. Gayatri doesn’t have an extensive role here, but she is never an annoyance. Numerous characters are there in the film played neatly by actors like Sudhy Koppa, Kalabhavan Shajon, Sudheer Karamana, Manu and many others.

POSITIVES
1. Tovino has a rising star, he did pakka justice to his role.
2. Roopesh Peethambaran came back into the shoes of an actor after long 22 years and he did an excellent job.
3. Neeraj Madhav's career best performance
4. Direction is good, when we consider it as the movie of a new comer
5. Editing team needs a special mention.

NEGATIVES
1. Lip sync in certain portions
2.  I felt like first half is bit slow... (This might be just what I felt, this may differ)

Oru Mexican Aparatha is a new package of campus movie for Malayalam audience with some great performances by a bunch of new promising actors. This movie is one came out with lot of hype and everyone who waited for this movie will be really pleased with the output they've got. As a whole OMA is a mass entertainer and it'll be an extra ordinary one for all those SFI or Left supporters, even the other party supporters also has their moments to cherish in this movie. As a movie buff I suggest you not to mix your personal political taste into this.

Oru Mexican Aparatha- 7/10 (good)
